LEGO is a working group affiliated with the CNRS BIMMM GDR and dedicated to machine learning for genomics.
Like many scientific fields, genomics has benefited from the rise of machine learning over the past decade. The French research community in machine learning for genomics is active but scattered throughout the country within teams traditionally skilled in other methodological areas for genomics, such as statistics, algorithms, or bioinformatics.
The purpose of the LEGO working group is to facilitate exchanges within this community, promote collaborations, and enable the monitoring of progress made by participating teams.
This fifth meeting will take place in the context of the GDR BIMMM days, that take place every other year.
Title: Rationalizing machine learning on biomolecules structures, applications to RNA therapeutics and PPI predictions
Anna Zhukova, group leader at IBENS/Institut Pasteur
Title: Estimating factors of epidemic spread with deep learning-enabled phylodynamics
Call for abstracts
We welcome abstracts of up to 300 words, in French or English, on recently published or ongoing research related to machine learning for genomics. Submission platform to be open soon.
The working group organizers will select a subset of the submitted abstracts for oral presentations (in English), and others for poster presentations.
The submission website will open on September 1st and the deadline is set to October 8th, 2025. The decisions will be given on October 15th.
Organisation
The LEGO meeting will cover 2 days:
Thursday 27th will be for keynotes, oral presentations and posters for accepted abstracts.
The morning of Friday 28th will be a workshop foundation models for DNA and regulatory genomics. The afternoon will be again for presentations.
The meeting will take place at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes (LS2N), on the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques campus (2 chemin de la Houssinière, 44300 Nantes), building 34 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/9S3jPtr3G9nM2RyU7).
A lunch will be offered to all participants.
The event is free, but registration is mandatory before October 24th 2025 for logistical reasons, through the website of the BIMMM days.
The events organized by the LEGO workgroup aim at gathering the French community in machine learning for genomics in order to foster an exchange of ideas and a respectful scientific debate.
Our objective is that anyone interested by these events can attend them comfortably, and in particular without experiencing any form of harassement or discrimination (racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or ableist).
Any witness or victim of such incidents or any other non-professional behavior can get in touch with the organizers. All complaints will be handled as confidentially as possible.
